Peace Ride at Healing Wheels

We had a chance to volunteer at a new inaugural ride, Healing Wheels, this past Saturday in Morristown. The route was a metric century and had a killer 5,000-foot ascent in the middle of the course. As their site says, it's "the perfect training ride for this summer's later high-mountain events" (ahem, like the Peace Ride).

We volunteered as an on-course marshal, cheering riders on and letting them know where to go. Later, we had a chance to tell cyclists about the Peace Ride. It was a great first event with a base stationed at the Bandimere Speedway. It was also cool seeing all the cyclists who weren't part of the event turn their heads at the huge tent Healing Wheels set up.

The event benefited Inner City Health Center, a full-range health care facility for low-income and medically uninsured families. Some of the doctors rode in the ride, and it was inspiring to see their commitment toward this cause.

Kudos to Healing Wheels and a congratulations on a successful inaugural year!
