Why Early Registration is Awesome

I was thinking today doing outreach at REI that early registration is pretty sweet. For those of you that don’t know, the Colorado Peace Ride is $200 before June 8th and goes up to $300 afterward…in case you, uh, wanted to register now.

Seriously, what other rides out there are offering a 4-day, fully supported ride – that means SAG support, rest stops, medical, camping space, a sweet jersey, entertainment and a slew more – for $200. You can hardly go on vacation anymore for less than $100 a day. Plus, if you’ve never been down to that area of Colorado, you don’t know what you’re missing. Some cyclist yesterday was saying that Ouray is his favorite spot in the state. At any rate, the route is one of the most gorgeous in the country.

Cyclists on a budget really need to know about the ride. It used to be that people could sign up for rides left and ride for the summer, but because of the economy, a lot of people are being more selective about their rides (especially after popping $5,000 on a new frame). It’s cool to see people light up when I tell them about the early registration price. So let people know. It’s definitely worth the trip. The route is always rated one of the best in the country in the cycling guides, and it goes toward a good cause.
